Durga Saptashloki Audio

The intent to recite and record the Surga Saptashloki Stotram came to the mind, because an astrologer had recommended to an acquaintance to recite this short hymn every day to overcome hurdles and difficulties being faced. In order to help, an audio of the stotram is presented herein.

This is a short hymn. There are only seven verses in the Durga Saptashloki and these are essentially taken from the much larger Durga Saptashati that comprises seven hundred main verses. The entire Durga Saptashati can be found elsewhere in this blog. Being concise, the Durga Saptashloki can be recited very quickly and the benefits obtained. Or one can recite or listen just for the love of the Great Goddess ! The hymn is only 2.39 MB.

And now the audio: 2 minutes and 37 seconds long.

Gayatri Hrdayam Audio

In conjunction with the previous two posts, in the Srimad Devi Bhagawatham Puranam, twelfth Skanda (part), fourth chapter, the Gayatri Hrdayam is covered. The Gayatri Hrdayam addresses the Essence of the Gayatri and is detailed in the Atharva Veda.
The aspirant is to make himself a Devata as he meditates on this Essence of the Gayatri. Every part of his body is to be associated with the physical elements, mountains, planets, elements of time, seasons, Sun, Moon, etc. Then he is to offer salutations to Aditya and to Gayatri residing in the Sun. The sin removing aspects of this Divine Mantra is beyond what one can imagine.

The Gayatri Hrdayam is delivered by Sriman Narayana to Sri Narada Maharishi. Narayana is the Rishi, Gayatri is the Chandas and Sri Parameshwari Gayatri is the Devata.
This is a short hymn about 4 MB.

And now the audio: 4 minutes 28 seconds long.

Gayatri Kavacham Audio

In conjunction with the previous post, in the Srimad Devi Bhagawatham Puranam, twelfth Skanda (part), third chapter, the Gayatri Kavacham is covered. All Kavachams, as one might know, are like a protective armour, whose mantras protect various parts of an aspirant’s body as well as offer protection from various external calamities, in addition to directional coverage. Kavachams of various Deities take on different characteristics. For example, in the Skanda Shashti Kavacham, Lord Muruga in various Names and His Spear are aspired to offer various protective aspects; in Durga Saptashati, the various Devis are invoked to offer the protective shields; in Kalika Kavacham, various potent Bija Aksharas (seed syllables) are the protective forces.
Here, the various sections of the sacred Gayatri Mantra Itself offer the protective shield. For example, “Tat” offers protection for the head, “Sa” of the forehead, “Vi” the eyes, “Tu” the cheeks, “Va” the nostrils, “Re” the mouth and so on. Additionally, the various Devis offer directional protection such as Savitri Devi the right, Sandhya Devi the back, Saraswati Devi the left, Jalashaayini Devi the southeast, Rudraroopinee Rudraani Devi the northeast, etc.

The Kavacham is delivered by Sriman Narayana to Sri Narada Maharishi. Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara are the Rishis, Rk, Yajur, Sama and Atharva Vedas are the Chandas and Paramaa Kalaa Gayatri is the Devata.
This is a short hymn about 4.26 MB.

And now the audio: 4 minutes 39 seconds long.

Dakshinamoorthy Dhyana Stotram Audio - SSSBV

The Dakshinamoorthy Dhyana Stotram dealt with here was composed by Sri SadaShiva Brahmendra Swamigal of Nerur, Tamil Nadu, India, taken from the book “Sri Sadashiva Brahmendra’s works – Part III Book 1 – Keertanas and Minor Works – Main Text in Sanskrit” compiled by Sri T.P. Vinayaka Rao. This book is published by Sri Sadashiva Brahmendral Seva Trust, Nerur 639004, Karur District, Tamil Nadu, India. One may recall Shiva Maanasika Pooja Stotram audio in this blog was also composed by the same Great Saint.

Sri Dakshinamoorthy form of Shiva bestows Divine knowledge on the sincere devotees. Wikipedia article on Sri Dakshinamoorthy is a beginning introduction to those new to His Form and can be read at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dakshinamurthy
This is a beautiful simple hymn elegant in style comprising 45 verses.

Subrahmanya Bhujangam Audio

The desire to recite and record Sri Subrahmanya Bhujangam came in the mind, after watching a Youtube video by Sri Lakshmi Narayanan, as He ( a Divine Soul Himself ) describes His experiences with Sri Sivan Sar – Who is a Mahan and Siddha Purusha. In that video, as He describes the moments right at the instant of a massive car crash in which He was a passenger, and how He was reciting this phenomenal stotram, one can imagine how Sri Subrahmanya comes to the rescue as we reach the end of “our” wits. For those that understand Tamil, one is highly encouraged to watch the all the parts connected to this set of videos. The said statement happens at 19 minutes and 17 seconds into the video.

The link to that video is here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOeprgsO8M0

From the post Vacation to India July 2017 the last photo is re-posted here so one can get a darshan of Sri Lakshmi Narayanan; He is the One to the left.

This wonderful hymn has been composed by the Great Adi Shankara at the Divine Location of Thiruchendur in Tamil Nadu, India. Nestled in the beautiful lyrics, this hymn asks Lord Subrahmanya to remove all mental worries and diseases and requests His Darshan !! It has been an absolute pleasure to present this stotram.
This is a relatively short hymn. 11 MB

And now the audio: 11 minutes 34 seconds long.
( Mobile devices: click download; then play.)

Note a couple of errors:
Verse 7/Line 2: Audio should be “Kya” not “Gya”
Verse 21/Line 4: Audio should be “Pura” not “Puram”.

Dhoomavati Mala Mantram Audio

At the request of Sri Ashutosh Jani, a visitor to this blog, here is the audio of Sri Dhoomavati Devi Mala Mantram. Sri Jani had commented over a year ago with this request. Unfortunately, this mantram is very rare and the internet has versions of the mantram that are full of errors and some are downright erroneous. Hence the significant delay in this post. Sri Jani was gracious enough to scan and send the authentic version from Rudrayamale tantra and that is what is presented here. As one may know, Sri Dhoomavati Devi is one of the Dasha MahaVidyaas and provides Divine Knowledge.

The whole hymn is less than 3 minutes long and for such a short hymn, it is extremely powerful. The Hymn describes the qualities of Dhoomavati Devi and then proceeds to ask for boons and blessings including destruction of enemies and removal of all diseases due to various causes. And the finale of the mantram is through a series of powerful bija-aksharams ( seed syllables ) requesting for quick arrival and protection ! The credit for providing this wonderful Hymn goes to Sri Jani and the enormous bliss attained during this recitation cannot be expressed in words !

The breakpoints in the recitation can be followed by observing the markings in the lyrics for the benefit of the listener / reciter. A copy of the original mantram with the break points shown are in the link to the lyrics at the end of this post.  This is available in Sanskrit only.
This is a short hymn. 2.14 MB

And now the audio: 2 minutes 20 seconds long.

Shiva Maanasika Pooja Stotram - SSSBV Audio

The heart has been falling in love with Sri SadaShiva Brahmendra Swamigal of Nerur, Tamil Nadu, India, ever since reading various stories about the Great Mahaan. By Divine Grace, had the opportunity to visit His Adhistaanam in Nerur during the latest trip to India in July 2017. At the end of the darshan, they were selling some books and purchased one that had some stotrams composed by the Saint. Here is one of the hymns composed by Him called Shiva Maanasika Pooja Stotram.
The Shiva Maanasika Pooja Stotram can be recited or listened to by any devotee of Shiva and essentially by reciting or even listening with devotion, it is the equivalent of performing a Shiva Pooja mentally. This is also called “Atma Pooja”. It can be done anywhere, even when one is not at a temple or at the Pooja Area in the house. Simply focus on Lord Shiva mentally and imagine performing a Shiva Pooja, offering water for washing feet, water for sipping, water for a bath, offering of Madhuparka for eating, offering flowers, offering a lighted lamp, offering incense, offering a sacred thread (yagnopaveetham), offering damaru (hand drum), offering aabharanam (decorative jewellery), songs and hymns.

The whole hymn is less than 6 minutes long and so now, none of us have any excuse for not performing Shiva Manasika Pooja !! ( How many times we blame not having time to do Divine Service !! )
This stotram is in Maatra Chanda; the same as the Garuda Sahasranamam elsewhere in this blog. This is a difficult metre to recite; at the same time it is very beautiful when recited; at the same time this is a sophisticated metre. The key in the rendering is to club the tail end of each line; because it may not be obvious as to where to club, a copy of the original shlokam with the clubbed areas underlined has been scanned and a link to the same given for everyone to use; this is in the Sanskrit version only. One can use this audio and/or the marked up lyrics to do the same in other languages.

This is a short hymn. 5 MB
And now the audio: 5 minutes 41 seconds long.

Durga Shodashopachara Puja Mantra Audio

At the request of Sri Vishnu from California, here is the Sri Durga Shodashopachara Pooja Mantras in Audio Form. This involves offering of several services to Sri Durga Devi. Since Navaratri 2017 is almost here, for those devotees that want to perform this Puja, the audio is in the form of repeat after format, giving some time in between for the listener to repeat the mantras with the proper pronunciation.
If one has all the offerings physically available, they can be physically offered with the mantras; if unavailable, one can do a “Maanasik Pooja”, wherein one mentally imagines offering the highest quality of each offering while repeating the mantras in the mind; in this case replace the word “Samarpayaami” with “Kalpayaami” everywhere.
In either case, one needs to sit down quietly and make the offerings. The whole procedure takes a little under 17 minutes when done mentally. While this puja can be done at any time of the year, it is special when done during Navaratri. The procedure has been taken from drikpanchang.com after removing some errors present there and adding the Visarjana at the end. Link to the English version of the lyrics including description of each item is given at the end.
This is a short hymn. 15 MB
And now the audio: 16 minutes 29 seconds long.

Matangi Hrdayam Audio

At the request of “GDPani”, a visitor to this blog, here is the audio of beautiful Matangi Hrdayam. Devi Matangi is the ninth Dasha Maha Vidya. Dasha Mahavidyas as you may know are the ten Great Wisdom Goddesses. Devi Matangi is the tantric form of Goddess Saraswati. Detailed Wikipedia article is found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matangi . Most of this hymn is in the Sanskrit meter Shikharini, wherein the middle 5 syllables get clubbed during recitation.

It may be interesting to note that while Devi Matangi is in charge of the arts, the phalasruthi portion, ( fruits of recitation or listening ), which starts at verse 14, state that one who listens to this hymn, becomes wealthy if he or she desires wealth, one who is in search of  wife gets a beautiful one, one desirous of a son gets one; one desirous of education gets knowledge; one desirous of victory in battles gets victory. One who loses a kingdom, regains it and gets wealth from Lord Kubera Himself – such is the power of this hymn, whose Rishi is Sri Dakshinamoorthy.

This is a short hymn. 7 MB.
And now the audio: about 8 minutes 4 seconds long.

Amnaya Stotram Audio

At the request of Shree Arunkumar M, a visitor to this blog, here is the audio for Amnaya Stotram. ( Pronounced AamNaaya ). Adiyen, the servant here, is NOT knowledgeable on this particular stotram. All that can be said ( being bereft of Divine Knowledge ) is that while reciting and listening, it just fills one with a level of unexplainable bliss. Just listening to the names of the Devis has this inexplicable positive effect. There is some information available in the public domain, but a knowledgeable person may be able to shed more light into this amazing stotram.

Thanks to Shree Arunkumar for exposing this treatise. If anyone would like to add to the general knowledge of this stotram, please do so in the comments for the common good of all.

Guru Ashtottara ShathaNamavali Audio

At the request of Shreemati Veena G, a visitor to this blog, here is the Ashtottara Shatha Naamaavali for Guru Bhagawan. While she was interested in the Sahasranamam, this shorter hymn comprising of one hundred and eight names and qualities is what is presented for reasons not being dealt with here. This Ashtottara Shatha Naamaavali for Guru Bhagawan is indeed quite succinct and yet powerful and is aimed at appeasing Guru Bhagawan represented by the planet Jupiter.
While generally Guru brings in benevolent conditions, depending upon one’s individual horoscope, things might be different totally due to the positions of the Others; one needs to get the advice of a well knowledgeable astrologer. There are several sites that discuss ways and means to appease the Grahas and they are not repeated here. The simplest way one can appease all the Grahas is to be cognizant of Them and mentally respect Them and offer prayers for Their help and grace, regardless of whether times are difficult or easy.

The Guru Bhagawan Ashtottara Shatha Naamaavali in audio mp3 format given here runs at a slower pace, so the listener can repeat either mentally or verbally. If you are performing a homam, please add “Svaha” after every “Namaha” and make the offering to Agni.
This is a short hymn. 7 MB

And now the audio: 7 minutes 21 seconds long.
( Mobile devices: click download; then play.)

Teevra Chandika Stotram Audio

The photo at the top of this post is the same as from the pooja area at home. There has been a deep desire to recite Sri Teevra Chandika Stotram for a long time now. The problem has been that lyrics available in several places has been full of typographical errors leading to frustration. This has now been solved by re-writing the stotram manually eliminating errors and is available in the lyrics link given below. The Teevra Chandika Stotram follows the Sanskrit metre “Sragdhaara”, wherein one finds three parts in each line, each part being exactly seven syllables; this leads to a tremendous level of melody during recitation.
“Teevra” in Sanskrit means “intense”. As it is Chandika Devi represents high intense levels of energy, representing very very high levels of vibration. This specific stotram is extremely intense in itself. One can observe several bija aksharams throughout, which are pure, unblemished manifestations of the Divine and hence pronunciation becomes important. Although only 12 verses long with 4 lines each, this shlokam is as powerful as the Karpooradhi Stotram for Kalika Devi that can be found elsewhere in this blog. As far as “Phalasruthi” or benefits, very briefly in the last line, the shlokam states that by the power of the bija mantras here, sins get washed out, diseases get eradicated and fear gets eliminated. Let us praise Sri Chandika Devi and get bliss listening to this phenomenal shlokam.

This is a short hymn. 7 MB
And now the audio: 7 minutes 37 seconds long.

Aditya Hrdayam Audio

Sri Aditya Hrdayam is a hymn from Sage Valmiki’s Ramayana and is addressed to Sri Rama by Sage Agastya. The details of this hymn are nicely detailed in English in the link at the bottom of this post for the Sanskrit lyrics and is therefore not duplicated here.
In addition to this, there is a really phenomenal talk by Rajarishi Sri Dr. G. Krishna Kumar of ParaShakthi temple in Michigan about the subtle meanings of this Aditya Hrdayam. This video is about 37 minutes long and the link is given at the end of this post.

On a personal experiential note, almost eighteen years ago, in 1999, worldly duty called for the operation of a complicated chemical system at the workplace. The sheer complexity of the system with all kinds of toxic gases and sensitive mechanical devices was unnerving to the mind and nervousness was at its peak. With no previous experience of any kind and no one to fall back onto, the mind was completely in emotional disarray. The one assistant available was also in the same state of mind with no prior experience. At that time, mother-in-law whose name was Pushpa advised the recitation of this very same Aditya Hrdayam hymn, just as Sage Agastya advised Sri Rama who had to battle Ravana. This eliminated the nervousness and provided the courage to proceed forward with the operation. The results have been so great that the system is being run to this day nicely.

Mahalakshmi Ashtakam Audio

The Sri Mahalakshmi Ashtakam is a very short stotram comprising of only eight main verses and three additional verses that provide the benefits of reciting this wonderful hymn in praise of Sri Mahalakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. As RajaRishi Dr. G.Krishnakumar of ParaShakthi temple in Michigan says, wealth includes not only monetary gains, but also physical health as well as spiritual capital. This is a hymn that even small children can recite and can memorize easily.

Links to the lyrics in English and Sanskrit are given following the audio. The Sanskrit lyrics link also provides the line by line meaning in English.

Lalita Stava Raja Stotram Audio

The Lalita Stava Raja Stotram is NOT to be confused with the Lalita Stava Ratnam; the latter which deals with the Maha Meru, is composed by Sage Durvasa ( incidentally, He has a sannidhi in the Kamakshi Amman Temple in Kancheepuram, which stood out specially because of increased awareness during recent trip to India in July 2016 ).

The Lalita Stava Raja Stotram on the other hand, is in the Brahmanda Maha Puranam. The Devas who were being tortured by the asura Bhandasura, seek the help of Goddess Lalita Maha Tripura Sundari and in the treatise here are extolling the Devi. Indra who is in charge of the Devas, in verse 31 says to Goddess Lalita Tripura Sundari, that “if You are pleased, O Bestower of well-being, we are being oppressed by the Daityas (asuras), give us a good living and we are surrendering to Your Feet (Sharannaagathi)”
To that request, the Devi says, in verse 32 and 32.5, that “ I will finish the entire clan belonging to Bhandasura, and you will again gain control of the three worlds – (Bhur, Bhuva, Suva) and all the Devas will be free of fear." The Goddess proceeds in verse 33 to 36 to say that “Any devotee of Mine that recites this shloka will gain material and spiritual wealth, knowledge and will be disease free. The devotee will be blessed with good children, good friends and a well-disposed spouse.” So the benefits of reciting or listening to this hymn is outlined by the Devi Herself.

Parayanam of Sri Brahmanda Puranam is going on in the house currently and upon reaching this portion which is in the thirteenth chapter of the Lalitopakyana section, there was a deep feeling that this wonderful hymn should reach anyone who is interested in Sri Lalita Maha Tripura Sundari and hence this presentation. Since the copy of the pertinent section could not be nicely scanned, it was decided to copy the lyrics and handwrite it and then scan it for everyone. That is what is included in the link at this post at the bottom. The pleasure one receives when simply copying and writing back such Divine verses is simply out of this world. ( Unfortunately, this is in Sanskrit only. Anyone who can write Tamil/Telugu/Kannada nicely could take on an undertaking to re-write in that specific language. Sri Veda Vyasa Maharishi will be very happy with such an effort. It is fairly short – only four pages long.) This is a relatively short hymn – 7.16 MB.
And now the audio: about 7 minutes 49 seconds long.

Renuka Shatanama Stotram Audio

In a previous post, the thousand name hymn for Sri Renuka Devi was dealt with. Here we deal with the one hundred and eight divine name hymn for Sri Renuka Devi. The Maharishi associated with this stotram is Sri Shanndilya Maharishi. One might want to note that in this hymn, several forms of Devi are associated with Sri Renuka, such as Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati and Mahakali, in addition to Bhramarambha Devi and so on. Thus the power of this hymn becomes evident. There is also a short “Phalasruthi” at the end; which essentially says the benefits of reciting or listening.
This is a beautiful hymn and is sure to fill the listener or reciter with happiness and peace of mind. This is a short hymn – only 6 minutes and 20 seconds long and is a relatively short file size – only 5.8 MB.

And now the audio: 6 minutes and 20 seconds long.

Tara Shatanama Stotram Audio

Tara Devi is the second Dasha Mahavidya and is very close to Kalika Devi in characteristics. Wikipedia article can be found at :  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tara .
It was realized that while the audio for the Sahasranama Stotrams and the Shatanama Stotrams for all the Dasha Maha Vidya Devis had been included in this site, the one missing Shatanama Stotram had been for Tara Devi; for the sake of completion, It is included now so the set can be complete. Again, this stotram was provided by bother-in-law Kishore and thanks to him.

This is a short hymn only 4.1 MB long. Tara Devi provides maternal care and protection for Her devotees. Anytime one needs maternal protection and yearns for motherly love and care in any situation, worship of Tara Devi will be of great help.
And now the audio: 4minutes and 28 seconds long.

Kalika Karpuradhi Stotram Audio

There has been a deep desire to recite the Karpuradhi Stotram for Kalika Devi for a very long time. That desire has been fulfilled now and is being shared with all those interested. There is an interesting incident in the presentation of this stotram. The shlokam in the Sanskrit printed source given below has had a lot of printing errors and needed to be cleaned up. The hymn is sung, put into Google drive, thence to iTunes and then transferred to the cell phone for convenient listening anywhere; upon everything being okay, the blog post is written to share with all. After listening once in the cell phone, and ensuring that the recording was okay, the next day when the song was played in the iphone, the cell phone file miraculously got corrupted “temporarily” – this has NEVER happened before. After several hours, the file did not show the corruption. This resulted in a thought that something is acting up unusually.
Today, when this post was just about to be set up, it was discovered that the very second word of the hymn was in error – in the printed source and hence in the recitation, and it went unnoticed. Hence, the heart felt that Kalika Devi wanted it fixed before sharing. The error HAS been fixed thanks to Sri Kalika Devi intercepting in Her own subtle ways – that is how powerful this stotram is !

The English transliteration source given below is relatively cleaner of errors.
This is a very powerful hymn for Kalika Devi and at the same time relatively short. The Sanskrit metre switches at about 3 minutes 45 seconds to Shikharini. Please recite with devotion and the bliss experienced will be phenomenal !

And now the audio: about 12 minutes 46 seconds long.

Kalika Devi ShataNama Stotram Audio

Kalika Devi is the First of the Dasa Mahavidyas. The picture at the top of this post is that of the Kalika Devi that came from Butala Emporium in New York, during the Chandi Homam in Navaratri of 2015, a post written about in this blog. The Kalika Devi ShataNama Stotram is a hundred name hymn in praise of Goddess Kalika Devi and is really beautiful. By adding “Svaha” after every couplet and after every “Uvacha”, one can use in the performance of Kalika Devi Homam. Credit goes to brother-in-law Kishore, for providing this stotram. It gives joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too! This is a short hymn.

And now the audio: 5 minutes and 8 seconds long.

Lalita Trishati Audio

Lalita Trishati is a powerful hymn comprising of three hundred names of Lalita Tripura Sundari Devi. It was given to Sage Agastya by Lord Hyagriva. One of the main inspirations in reciting this powerful stotram is that since direct initiation in the Pancha Dasi mantra has not been received from a guru, the back door way to please and praise Shree Lalilta Maha Tripura Sundari was deemed to be through the recitation of this shlokam. Hopefully, the end goal of praising the Devi is accomplished.
If you observe the names, they follow the pattern of the Pancha Dasi Mantra accurately. In the recitation, there in an error in Verse 28, line 2:  it should be Kataakshasyandhi, not Kataakshayasyandhi.

This is a short hymn. And now the audio: 11 minutes 54 seconds long.
