The Lalita Stava Raja Stotram is NOT to be confused with the Lalita Stava Ratnam; the latter which deals with the Maha Meru, is composed by Sage Durvasa ( incidentally, He has a sannidhi in the Kamakshi Amman Temple in Kancheepuram, which stood out specially because of increased awareness during recent trip to India in July 2016 ).
The Lalita Stava Raja Stotram on the other hand, is in the
Brahmanda Maha Puranam. The Devas who were being tortured by the asura
Bhandasura, seek the help of Goddess Lalita Maha Tripura Sundari and in the treatise
here are extolling the Devi. Indra who is in charge of the Devas, in verse 31
says to Goddess Lalita Tripura Sundari, that “if You are pleased, O
Bestower of well-being, we are being oppressed by the Daityas (asuras), give us
a good living and we are surrendering to Your Feet (Sharannaagathi)”
To that request, the Devi says, in verse 32 and 32.5, that “
I will finish the entire clan belonging to Bhandasura, and you will again gain
control of the three worlds – (Bhur, Bhuva, Suva) and all the Devas will be
free of fear." The Goddess proceeds in verse 33 to 36 to say that “Any devotee
of Mine that recites this shloka will gain material and spiritual wealth, knowledge
and will be disease free. The devotee will be blessed with good children, good
friends and a well-disposed spouse.” So the benefits of reciting or listening
to this hymn is outlined by the Devi Herself.
Parayanam of Sri Brahmanda Puranam is going on in the house
currently and upon reaching this portion which is in the thirteenth chapter of the Lalitopakyana
section, there was a deep feeling that this wonderful hymn should reach anyone
who is interested in Sri Lalita Maha Tripura Sundari and hence this
presentation. Since the copy of the pertinent section could not be nicely
scanned, it was decided to copy the lyrics and handwrite it and then scan it
for everyone. That is what is included in the link at this post at the bottom. The pleasure
one receives when simply copying and writing back such Divine verses is simply
out of this world. ( Unfortunately, this is in Sanskrit only. Anyone who can
write Tamil/Telugu/Kannada nicely could take on an undertaking to re-write in
that specific language. Sri Veda Vyasa Maharishi will be very happy with such
an effort. It is fairly short – only four pages long.) This is a relatively short hymn – 7.16 MB.
And now the audio: about 7 minutes 49 seconds long.

One error in the audio: Verse 13 / 2nd line audio should be "Paada" NOT "Paadaa".
As stated above, the Sanskrit lyrics can be found at :

ReplyDeleteI need the book in English or Tamil can u please tell where I can get lalitopakyana book. For parayanam.
ReplyDeleteNamaste Sri Anandhi: Thank you for the visit. Adiyen may not be of much help; depending on where you live, contacting Kamakoti matam might be a good choice. The Uttara Khanda ( the last portion ) of Brahmanda Puranam is where this current stotram is from; unfortunately, the book used by Adiyen is in Sanskrit. If you are planning on parayanam of complete part, then more search may be needed; if you are planning on reciting just this stotram, Adiyen could help if Devi Wills. Please reply if possible.
DeleteI am looking for an English translation/Kannada translation of sage Durvasa's Lalita stava ratnam.Commentary is more welcome. Please suggest if you know of it.
