Varahi Sahasranamavali Audio

At the request of Shreemati Veena G, a visitor to this blog, here is the Sahasranamavali for Sri Varahi Devi. There is a lot of information right on the internet regarding Sri Varahi Devi and it is not repeated here. Sri Varahi represents one of the Sapta (Seven) Matrukas in the set Brahmi, Aindri, Vaishnavi, Maheshvari, Varahi,Kaumari and Chamunda.  Some add Narasimhi to the list making thus Ashta (Eight) Matrukas. Varahi represents the fifth and is part of the Sanskrit Aksharas.

Many of the great saints in India have been Varahi Upasakas. Sri Varahi Devi is quite a powerful Goddess; in fact, in the Kavacham portion of Durga Saptashati, available in this site, It is stated that “Aayu Rakshathu Varahi, Dharmam Rakshathu Vaishnavi”, meaning that longevity of life is controlled and protected by Sri Varahi and righteousness is governed by Sri Vaishnavi. It also states that Varahi rides on a Mahisha, meaning bull, which in a way represents the energy of Yama, the God of Death, thus corroborating life expectancy connected with Sri Varahi. So anyone feeling the “untimely” closeness to “exit” may consider praying to Sri Varahi.
This Varahi Sahasranamavali in audio form is rare to be found; several print copies are available in various languages. When one listens to this hymn, it is almost without fail that the feeling of the tremendous power of Sri Varahi can be felt. While some worship Varahi Devi to obtain superhuman powers, as regular devotees let us praise Her simply for Her Glory and Greatness and the power and blessings She has already given us to worship Her; remember, if She does not will, one cannot even worship Her ! Just the fact that you are reading this, IS HER anugraham!! And She will help us all cross the ocean of samsara.

As before, in order to get the maximum physical effect and “feeling”, one is STRONGLY recommended to put on headphones and listen with the volume level high within comfort – as opposed to hearing on low volume. One might note that in this recitation, the rhythm followed is 4 names/qualities on high pitch followed by 4 names/qualities on low pitch. The names and qualities will seem quite potent right from the start and simply stay on high energy throughout; She is stated as the form of all the sacred rivers, the form of the “Advaryu” or priest conducting a Yagna, the form of the Yagna Itself, the Soul, the Veda Brahmana, etc. She is explicitly stated as the Remover of diseases in this hymn. If one forms a mental image of Sri Varahi Devi while listening to this hymn, the power and protective capacity of of the Goddess CAN be felt – there is no doubt in this.
The picture on top of this post is from ParaShakthi Temple in Michigan, USA. The photo was taken by Sri Rakesh and credit goes to him. Here are the credits: By Rashkesh - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=23335032

NOTE: BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY LARGE FILE ABOUT 33 MEGABYTES, YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD AND THEN LISTEN. On mobile devices and some computers, you may get the message -- This file is too large for Google to scan, download anyway? -- You will have to answer "YES" and then listen after download. On some computers, when you hit the play button, if nothing seems to happen, click the Download arrow at the top, click download anyway and then listen. Sorry for the inconvenience -- but this is a big file and praise to Sri Varahi Devi -- Her Grace is magnificent !
