Bhavani Sahasranamam Audio

At the request of Shri Mohan Narendran, a visitor to this blog, here is the thousand name hymn for Bhavani Devi, entitled Bhavani Sahasranama Stotram from Rudrayamala Tantra. Bhavani Devi is a form of Parvati Devi and there is interesting information about Her at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhavani . This thousand name hymn is given by Sri Mahadeva Himself to Sri Nandikeshwara. This is one of the smoothest flowing Sahasranama stotrams and fills one with tremendous bliss and peace of mind.

This hymn has a detailed and long “Phalasruthi” portion which deals with the benefits of recitation or listening of the Bhavani Sahasranamam, starting from verse 137, which is towards the last ten minutes of the audio and goes on till the end. Sri Mahadeva states that reciting or simply listening to this Bhavani  Sahasranama Stotram provides relief from sadness and disease and brings in fame and wealth ( verse 139); provides good form and resplendence ( verse 140 );  eliminates sin, anger, greed and brings greatness to wife, children and friends ( verse 141); brings knowledge to brahmins and valor to warriors ( verse 142); brings wealth to merchants and happiness to the working class and the childless bear progeny ( verse 143); one desirous of a female child bears one and one desirous of spiritual progress obtains it ( verse 144 );  inauspicious occurances and fear from the ruling class are eliminated ( verse 145 ); bad influences from evil spirits and inauspicious planetary afflictions are removed ( verse 146 and 147 ); the blind gets sight restored and diseases of the eye are eliminated ( verse 150 ); the mute can speak and the fetus of a pregnant lady gets strengthened ( verse 151); pregnant ladies will get a smooth childbirth and a healthy body is obtained ( verse 152 and 153); it is beyond doubt that a childless couple will be blessed with a child and consumptive disease will get eliminated ( verse 154 ).

The hymn proceeds to state in verses 160 to 164 that it is special to listen to or recite in a temple or sacred place and that Devi Herself may appear and give darshan in one’s dream by repeated listening or recitation; verse 172 states that future poverty or diseases will not occur; verse 173 says one will win in debates and even have control over a king. Benefits include respects from other people and a beautiful youthful appearance ( verse 175 );  protection from arrows, nails and victory over enemies ( verse 178 ); protection from ghosts and goblins ( verse 179 ); one gets peace and all sadness and obstacles to progress are eliminated and one gets good health ( verse 183 and 184 ). Verse 186 states that there is no stotra, mantra or sacred place of pilgrimage as great as this very Sahasranama stotram.

What an impressive “Phalsruthi” portion indeed !! But one can simply recite or listen just out of love for Shree Bhavani Devi ! Heartfelt thanks goes to Shri Narendran for this request.
