Dhoomavati Mala Mantram Homam

Shri Ashutosh Jani, a visitor to this blog had graciously provided the Dhoomavati Mala Mantram. The audio for this as well as the lyrics in Sanskrit are posted at the following link: Dhoomavati Mala Mantram Audio .

The heart felt so happy after the development of the audio, that it was felt that a homam should be performed with a mandalam of this mantram. A mandalam comprises of 48 repetitions; with the addition of "Svaahaa" at the end to synchronize with the offering to Agni. The picture at the top of this post is a still photograph from the Homam. One might be able to visualize Sri Dhoomavati Devi in the Agni facing right ! In addition to this mantram, the Dhoomavati Gayatri Mantram was also included in the Homam. The Homam was performed in the backyard on a windy cold 5th of February 2018.

Two short video clips are presented below for the benefit of all !

In the following 1 minute 43 second clip, the Dhoomavati Mala Mantram is being chanted.

In the following 35 second clip, the Dhoomavati Gayatri Mantra is being chanted.

Thanks again to Shri Ashutosh Jani for this opportunity !

Om Sri Dhoomavati Devi Namo Namaha !

English lyrics for Bhuvaneshwari Sahasranamam

There was a comment made by Srimathi Kavitha, a visitor to this blog, to provide lyrics in English for the beautiful Bhuvaneshwari Sahasranamam. The audio for this as well as the lyrics in Sanskrit are posted at the following link: Bhuvaneshwari Sahasranamam Audio

The response made was that it is difficult to get the lyrics in English; the only option being to physically develop it from the original Sanskrit version. This seemed like a huge task; but when the Devi Wills, things happen. The task was undertaken and the English version of the original Sanskrit lyrics is available for all at:  English Lyrics For Bhuvaneshwari Sahasranamam

During the development of the lyrics, the mind was filled with unbound happiness; and so, prior to making this post, a Bhuvaneshwari Sahasramamam Homam was conducted in the backyard; three short video clips are presented below. The picture at the top of this post is a still photo taken of the Homam. One might be able to observe the beautiful Devi Herself in a seated posture in the Agni !

A heartfelt thanks to Srimathi Kavitha for the comment and the request; now it is available for all !

Dhoomavati Mala Mantram Audio

At the request of Sri Ashutosh Jani, a visitor to this blog, here is the audio of Sri Dhoomavati Devi Mala Mantram. Sri Jani had commented over a year ago with this request. Unfortunately, this mantram is very rare and the internet has versions of the mantram that are full of errors and some are downright erroneous. Hence the significant delay in this post. Sri Jani was gracious enough to scan and send the authentic version from Rudrayamale tantra and that is what is presented here. As one may know, Sri Dhoomavati Devi is one of the Dasha MahaVidyaas and provides Divine Knowledge.

The whole hymn is less than 3 minutes long and for such a short hymn, it is extremely powerful. The Hymn describes the qualities of Dhoomavati Devi and then proceeds to ask for boons and blessings including destruction of enemies and removal of all diseases due to various causes. And the finale of the mantram is through a series of powerful bija-aksharams ( seed syllables ) requesting for quick arrival and protection ! The credit for providing this wonderful Hymn goes to Sri Jani and the enormous bliss attained during this recitation cannot be expressed in words !

The breakpoints in the recitation can be followed by observing the markings in the lyrics for the benefit of the listener / reciter. A copy of the original mantram with the break points shown are in the link to the lyrics at the end of this post.  This is available in Sanskrit only.
This is a short hymn. 2.14 MB

And now the audio: 2 minutes 20 seconds long.

Matangi Hrdayam Audio

At the request of “GDPani”, a visitor to this blog, here is the audio of beautiful Matangi Hrdayam. Devi Matangi is the ninth Dasha Maha Vidya. Dasha Mahavidyas as you may know are the ten Great Wisdom Goddesses. Devi Matangi is the tantric form of Goddess Saraswati. Detailed Wikipedia article is found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matangi . Most of this hymn is in the Sanskrit meter Shikharini, wherein the middle 5 syllables get clubbed during recitation.

It may be interesting to note that while Devi Matangi is in charge of the arts, the phalasruthi portion, ( fruits of recitation or listening ), which starts at verse 14, state that one who listens to this hymn, becomes wealthy if he or she desires wealth, one who is in search of  wife gets a beautiful one, one desirous of a son gets one; one desirous of education gets knowledge; one desirous of victory in battles gets victory. One who loses a kingdom, regains it and gets wealth from Lord Kubera Himself – such is the power of this hymn, whose Rishi is Sri Dakshinamoorthy.

This is a short hymn. 7 MB.
And now the audio: about 8 minutes 4 seconds long.

Tara Shatanama Stotram Audio

Tara Devi is the second Dasha Mahavidya and is very close to Kalika Devi in characteristics. Wikipedia article can be found at :  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tara .
It was realized that while the audio for the Sahasranama Stotrams and the Shatanama Stotrams for all the Dasha Maha Vidya Devis had been included in this site, the one missing Shatanama Stotram had been for Tara Devi; for the sake of completion, It is included now so the set can be complete. Again, this stotram was provided by bother-in-law Kishore and thanks to him.

This is a short hymn only 4.1 MB long. Tara Devi provides maternal care and protection for Her devotees. Anytime one needs maternal protection and yearns for motherly love and care in any situation, worship of Tara Devi will be of great help.
And now the audio: 4minutes and 28 seconds long.

Tara Sahasranamam Audio

Tara Devi is the second Dasha Mahavidya and is very close to Kalika Devi in characteristics. Wikipedia article can be found at :  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tara .
In a previous post entitled Tara Devi Thakaradhi Sahasranamam, we had dealt with a thousand name hymn, all of which started with the letter “Tha”. The Thakaradhi Sahasranamam is a discussion between Vashista Maharishi and Lord Brahma. Here, it is a discussion between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This is a nice flowing hymn; I especially love the portion between 9 minutes and 50 seconds to 10 minutes and 40 seconds. I have really enjoyed singing this hymn and is my offering of respects and love for Tara Devi.

This is a long hymn. I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too!
And now the audio: 26 minutes and 59 seconds long.

NOTE: BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY LARGE FILE ABOUT 30 MEGABYTES, YOU MAY HAVE TO DOWNLOAD AND THEN LISTEN. On mobile devices and some computers, you may get the message -- This file is too large for Google to scan, download anyway? -- answer "YES" and then listen after download. On some computers, when you hit the play button, if nothing seems to happen, click the Download arrow at the top, click download anyway and then listen. Sorry for the inconvenience -- but this is a big file and praise to Sri Tara Devi -- Her Grace is magnificent !

Tara Sahasranamam Thakaradhi Audio

Tara Devi is the second Dasha Mahavidya and is very close to Kalika Devi in characteristics. Wikipedia article can be found at :  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tara_(Devi) .

Here in the Tara Devi Thakaradhi Sahasranamam, we will be dealing with a thousand name hymn. It must be noted that in the Thakaradhi version dealt with here, all of the names start with the letter “Tha”. This sound is quite hard on the tongue and you can see that towards the end, my voice starts getting weaker somewhat; however, I have really enjoyed singing this hymn and is my offering of respects and love for Tara Devi.
This is a long hymn. I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too!

Shodashi Shathanama Stotram Audio

Devi Shodashi is the third Dasha Mahavidya and also goes by the name of Tripura Sundari, Lalita Devi and Raja Rajeshwari. An informative Wikipedia article can be found at :  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripura_Sundari .
She is the main deity of worship for Sri Vidya Upasakas. I have NOT been initiated into Sri Vidya Pancha Dasi or the Shodasi mantras by any guru; no one would initiate me. However, I still worship Tripura Sundari Devi, since She gives me happiness. And I worship Her to thank for all of the great things She has done for all people everywhere. Those people that have received Pancha Dasi or Shodasi mantra deeksha are indeed blessed souls and must have done a lot of penance and meritorious deeds either in this life or in previous lives.

The Shodashi Shatanama Stotram is a hundred name hymn in praise of Goddess Shodashi and is really beautiful. I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too!

Tripura Bhairavi Sahasranamam Audio

Devi Tripura Bhairavi is the fifth Dasha Mahavidya and is considered to be a form of Kalika Devi. Wikipedia article can be found at :  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhairavi .
In the Kavacham portion of Durga Sapthashathi, there is a shloka that says “Bhaaaryaam Rakshathu Bhairavi”, which means “O Bhairavi Devi, please protect my wife.” So, if you are a man you can pray to Bhairavi Devi for the protection and well-being of your wife.

The Tripura Bhairavi Sahasranamam is a thousand name hymn in praise of Goddess Bhairavi and is really beautiful. I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too!

Devi Tripura Bhairavi is the fifth Dasha Mahavidya and is considered to be a form of Kalika Devi. Wikipedia article can be found at :  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhairavi .
Tripura Bhairavi Devi is good to good people and terrific and fear provoking to bad people. One needs to have devotion and bhakthi towards Her and can then receive Her blessings.

Dhoomavati Sahasranamam Audio

In a previous post, we had addressed the hundred name hymn of Dhoomavathi Devi. Here, we will present the thousand name hymn.
Dhoomavati Devi teaches us to look beyond the obvious and get wisdom. Years ago, when I was between twelve and sixteen, we used to walk about a mile to go from our house in Rajkot, India to a Hanuman temple. The temple was by the side of a cow farm which supplied milk to the community. The priest at the temple was an old woman. I can vividly picture Her even now as She used to give us prasadams. I did not realize then, but now I feel She was the embodiment of Dhoomavati Devi; She was extremely compassionate, wore a white saree, had frail hands and always gave us blessings. That is the Grace of Dhoomavati Devi !

The Dhoomavati Sahasranamam is a thousand  name hymn in praise of Goddess Dhoomavati and is really beautiful. I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too!
And now the audio: 35 minutes 19seconds long.

Dhoomavati Shathanama Stotram Audio

Devi Dhoomavati is the seventh Dasha Mahavidya and is misunderstood by many people just like Devi Chinnamasta is. Wikipedia article can be found at :  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhumavati

The first syllable Dhoom to be pronounced as in “zoom” and the last syllable as in "theme". This is important since the seed syllables form part of the invoking procedure. Here is a short minute long video clip taken from the Dhoomavati Homam performed by me along with my son on our back deck in mid 2015.

Devi Dhoomavati teaches one to look beyond the obvious and into the esoteric. She bestows boons to Her devotees and is a phenomenal Goddess of wisdom.
The Dhoomavati Shatanama Stotram is a hundred name hymn in praise of Goddess Dhoomavati and is really beautiful. I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too!

Bagalamukhi Sahasranamam Audio

Bagalamukhi Devi is the eighth Dasha Mahavidya and is a very powerful deity. I had the blessing of meeting Swami Divya Chetananandji Maharaj at the beautiful Para Shakthi temple in Michigan, during the Rajagopuram Kumbhabhishekam celebrations in 2015. This temple has been built by the Great Dr. G. Krishna Kumar, Whom I consider as a form of Para Shakthi Devi Herself ! Swami Divya Chetananandji Maharaj is an ardent bhaktha of Devi Bagalamukhi and I was able to speak to Him for about fifteen minutes. Initially of course, I asked Him if I could get mantra deeksha of Bagalamukhi moola mantra. He did not give me that; but told me that even to get a darshan of a Siddha Purusha and Santh, one has to have Divine grace and hence I should be happy.
He told me I should be positive and be happy that if I did not have the grace of Devi, I could not be reciting their Sahasranamams or performing their homams. I reflected and meditated on what the Guruji had said and two days later I called up and said in Hindi: “Guruji, thank you for your advice. Now I am Poorna ( full ); and I have no need for anything; I am happy and contented; thank you for raising my awareness.”

The Bagalamukhi Sahasranama Stotram is a thousand name hymn in praise of Goddess Bagalamukhi and is really beautiful. I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too!

Bagalamukhi Shatanama Stotram Audio

Devi Bagalamukhi is the eighth Dasha Mahavidya and is misunderstood by many people just like Devi Chinnamasta is. Wikipedia article can be found at : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagalamukhi

Devi Bagalamukhi is known to paralyze enemies. Her moola mantra itself spells out in detail the requests by Her devotee to enable paralyzing the speech, mind and motion of his enemies. That does NOT mean that She can be used to destroy fellow human beings. The keyword in the mantra is “Sarva Dhustanaam” which is loosely translated as “enemies”. The enemies that are referred to here are of an esoteric level. Anything that perturbs your divine peace of mind is an enemy; all the enemies are inside our own selves. The emotions of ego, greed, anger, etc are our real enemies; it is these emotions that have to be controlled and subdued.

Once these enemies are subdued, one can return to a state of mind that is in divine peace. And Devi Bagalamukhi can help a devotee accomplish that. She will provide you the ability to control your tongue, so you speak graceful words; She will provide you the ability to control your anger so you can be in peace with yourself and others and so on.

The Bagalamukhi Shatanama Stotram is a hundred name hymn in praise of Goddess Bagalamukhi and is really beautiful. I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too!

Kamala Sahasranamam Audio

Kamala Devi, also known as Kamalatmika Devi, is the tantric form of Maha Lakshmi. Her thousand name hymn that we deal with here is an exquisite devotional stotram. One can add “Svaha” at the end of each couplet and use it for homam purposes.

Again, this is from the shlokam sent to me by my brother-in-law and my sincere thanks to him.

Kamala Devi is one of the Dasha Mahavidyas and bestows wealth and prosperity to the upasak and to his family. Wealth includes not only monetary blessings, but also spiritual wealth, good health, etc.

Now I present my audio rendering of Kamala Sahasranamam which is about 32 minutes and 39 seconds long:

(Mobile Devices: Click Download; then play. )

NOTE: BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY LARGE FILE ABOUT 30 MEGABYTES, YOU MAY HAVE TO DOWNLOAD AND THEN LISTEN. On some computers, when you hit the play button, if nothing seems to happen, click the Download arrow at the top, click download anyway and then listen. Sorry for the inconvenience -- but this is a big file and praise to Sri Kamala Devi -- Her Grace is magnificent !

I have sliced the pdf of the Sanskrit lyrics available at the link below. You might want to download and print it since it displays two pages at once and is in horizontal view.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5yrewH-M1znTzlkQWM2RUhVX0k/view?usp=sharing

Moola mantram for Kamalatmika Devi is "Om Shreem Hreem Shreem Kamale Kamalaalaye Praseedha Praseedha Shreem Hreem Shreem Om Mahalakshmyai Namaha". One needs to add "Svaha" at the end of the moola mantram for Homam purposes. Following is a very short video clip denoting this performed by me and my son on our back deck in mid 2015.:

Matangi Sahasranamam Audio

Devi Matangi is the ninth Dasha Maha Vidya. Dasha Mahavidyas as you may know are the ten Great Wisdom Goddesses. Devi Matangi is the tantric form of Goddess Saraswati. There are several forms of Devi Matangi; the most beautiful form is that of Raja Matangi with a veena as depicted above. Matangi Devi is in charge of the arts, education and knowledge. Education and knowledge are not limited to children; we as adults need knowledge also and that is Brahma Vidya which is Divine Knowledge; Matangi Devi can help us attain that. Detailed Wikipedia article is found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matangi .

The Matangi Sahasranamam Stotram comprises one thousand names and is a rare Sanskrit Shloka. I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. This is a phenomenal hymn of praise and can be used in homams with the addition of “Svaha” at the end of every couplet.  There is a pronunciation errors I just discovered – in verse 112, around 17 minutes, I have said "Shavaa Sha"; it should be "Shava Cha" – please forgive.

And now the audio: about 22 minutes long.

Chinnamasta Sahasranamam Audio

We dealt with the Shathanama stotram for Devi Chinnamasta in a previous post. Devi Chinnamasta is one of the Dasa Mahavidyas, also called Prachanda Chandika Devi. Wikipedia article can be found at : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chhinnamasta.
In this post, we will deal with the Sahasranamam for Her; this is a thousand name hymn in praise of Chinnamastika Devi. I have performed homams in my house using this Sahasranamam and it simply is beautiful. I have heard that those that have Rahu mahadasha in their astrological period, can worship Chinnamasta Devi for help in getting through problems; I have not done enough research on this topic.

Once again, I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too! The following audio has been re-sung and re-recorded as of April 2017, because the original one was too noisy.

Chinnamasta Shathanama Stotram Audio

Devi Chinnamasta is the sixth Dasha Mahavidya and is misunderstood by many people due to heavy misinformation. Wikipedia article can be found at : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chhinnamasta .
Most problems in the world created by man can generally be linked to ahankaaram – ego ! One tries to prove his or her superiority over others either in status of wealth, position in society, ranking in a corporate setting, etc, etc. It is this desire to pump up one’s ego that causes problems. This egotism does not always appear clearly and is many times subtle. Subtle ego is actually more problematic than gross and apparent ego. Rishis and munis have stated clearly that unless ego is kept contained, one cannot make spiritual progress.

Even apparently positive actions like charitable activities need to be cleansed of ego and name recognition and need to be performed without desire for pomp and praise. Devi Chinnamasta represents this cleansing process of getting rid of ego; ego is connected to the head and hence the severing of the head.

Another aspect of Devi Chinnamasta is the nurturing nature and selfless sacrifice that one needs to perform for others. Legend has it that the two assistants on either side of the Devi were hungry and begged the Divine Mother for food at which point, the Devi severed Her own head to make sure that the devotees are well nourished; this is depicted by the blood stream reaching them; this is similar to the motherly instinct of all beings be it human or animal to take care of those that depend upon you.
Once a devotee starts to worship Devi Chinnamasta, feelings of helping those in distress start becoming stronger and one starts to really work on subduing ego and pride.

I must give credit to Kishore, my brother-in-law for providing me this stotram. It gives me joy to listen to it and hopefully you will enjoy it too!

And now the audio: 4 minutes and 18 seconds long.

Bhuvaneshwari Sahasranamam Audio

Devi Bhuvaneshwari is one of the ten Dasha Mahavidyas. Dr. Krishna Kumar from the ParaShakthi temple in Detroit, Michigan says that just like Kali represents time, Bhuvaneshwari represents space. She is a Goddess with a beautiful countenance.

While there may be other Sahasranamams, the Bhakaaraadhi Sahasranamam that is being dealt with in this post is of special interest since all of the names start with the akshara “Bha”. Again, this is from the shlokam sent by brother-in-law Kishore and hence sincere thanks to him.

This shlokam has been recited with the addition of “Svaha” at the end of each couplet during homam and it simply fills one with bliss !

NOTE: BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY LARGE FILE ABOUT 32 MEGABYTES, YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD AND THEN LISTEN. On mobile devices and some computers, you may get the message -- This file is too large for Google to scan, download anyway? -- You will have to answer "YES" and then listen after download. On some computers, when you hit the play button, if nothing seems to happen, click the Download arrow at the top, click download anyway and then listen. Sorry for the inconvenience -- but this is a big file and praise to Sri Bhuvaneshwari Devi -- Her Grace is magnificent !

Here is the sliced pdf of the Sanskrit lyrics available at the link below. You might want to download and print it since it displays two pages at once and is in horizontal view.
